A closer look at four conditions that compromise optimal health

Stress : Stress refers to the many systemic changes that occur in our bodies, in response to challenges, whether they are from difficult situations, such as emotional distress, career choices, family discord, financial worries, or the need to adapt to abnormal physical demand, poor nutrition, immune challenges or toxic overload. If these challenges are ongoing, they can limit your ability to respond to them in the future.

Toxic insult : In today's world, the body is under constant assault from pathogenic micro-organisms and toxins in the air and water, and even hormone and pesticide contamination in our food. As our environment becomes more saturated with these toxins, our bodies are forced to work harder to process and eliminate them, in order to maintain our health.

Inflammation : Inflammation is a normal immunological response that allows the body to contain and fight infections or to repair damaged tissues. However, when inflammation becomes chronic, it damages surrounding tissues, and may cause debilitating pain.

Autonomic balance : The autonomic nervous system controls those systems that function without our conscious control. It is divided into two main parts: the sympathetic nervous system, which raises the heart rate and blood pressure, slows digestion and constricts blood vessels, activating the "fight or flight" response; and the parasympathetic nervous system, which slows the heart rate, lowers blood pressure, stimulates digestion and relaxes specific muscles. These two must be in balance for optimal body function.

Where it was developed?

The Technique was developed by Dr David Hill, the chief Medical Advisor at doTERRA, a leading expert in the field of integrative medicine and on the science and use of essential oils. He did so in response to an increasing demand for a simple, yet effective, way to apply essential oils, with meaningful results. What he wanted was something that both beginners and experts alike could use to powerful effect.

From his background in chiropractic medicine and his extensive experience with essential oils, Dr Hill selected eight essential oil singles and blends that have demonstrated profound effects on four systemic constants, conditions that challenge body systems, inhibiting their ability to function at an optimal level.

These factors have a negative impact on our overall health and well-being, disturbing the homeostatic balance our bodies need to function optimally. While the effects of these challenges might not be immediately seen, they still cause the body to function below optimal levels.
